My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris

Book: My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris
Series: My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century #1
Genre: YA Contemp
Acquired: Amazon
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Synopsis:

On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze.

Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore. Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?

My Thoughts:

Why do I LOVE this book? Let me count the ways:

1. The swoon-worthy LORENZO
2. The beautiful, talented, and hilarious Cat
3. It's set in Florence, Italy in the Renaissance Era
4. The sweet, adorable Less

Now I'm going to stop there because I could probably continue my list for a while. To put it simply, Rachel Harris is an amazingly talented lady! I have never once picked up a YA Contemp book and just fell head over heels for it like I have this book. The entire time I was completely drawn into this world, I feel as if I am Cat. Everything she feels, I feel. What she loves, I love. When she hurt, I hurt. When books do things like that to me.....well I know I have found something special.

Cat, is a twenty first century girl that is unhappy with a lot of her life and hides the innermost part of herself because of unfortunate events in her past that have scarred her. When she meets a gypsy woman, Reyna, she gets taken to a whole new world, the sixteenth century. There she meets her cousins, Less and Cip, and their scrumptious friend, Lorenzo (oh the feels). Through her adventure Cat begins to open up to the possibilities that she never would have at home. She starts to experience friendship, trust, and even love. The adventure that Cat goes on is one she will definitely never forget. And it will leave you wanting more. (I'm so glad I had a copy of A Tale of Two Centuries right beside me when I finished.)

Now not only is the story line and characters in this book written tremendously well, I LOVED the way that twenty first century language is written in this book. You can't begin to imagine how excited I got over the fact that Cat would say freaking or frigging. LOL I know that's crazy but it just made it so much more relate-able. It was one of those things that made me feel even more like it was possible that I was in this world that Rachel Harris built.

I highly recommend this book. I think this is a book that you will want to read a million times, then share it with the world, then pick it up to read it a million times more. I know exactly what some of the cousins are getting for Christmas this year!!
