Don't Look Back by Jennifer L Armentrout (Review + Giveaway)

**Thank you Cassie and Disney Hyperion for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

My Thoughts:

This is easily one of my favorite books of 2014, if not my favorite. This was the first book I picked up this year (at the time) that I literally could not put it down. I was reading it in the car to and from places (I wasn't driving) and in between everything I was doing. (By the way it is possible to read while cooking dinner.)

As soon as Samantha was found walking down that road and she had no clue who she was I was hooked. I wanted to know her story, what happened, and where Cassie was. I was sure guessing until the very end. I had my theories the entire book, but nothing that I was ever SURE about. I would think this sounded like a solid theory, but then something would happen that would totally throw that theory away. It's safe to say when I found out what really happened I was in a bit of a state of shock. I even had moments where I had to just hope with everything I had that it wasn't the one person I was hoping it wouldn't be.

The characters in this story really made it even better. Samantha was my absolute favorite, with Carson being a close second. I loved that Samantha got a chance to have a "do-over" in life. She got to see how she was and she decided to be who she wanted to be for a change and it was fabulous to see her putting some people in their places. Carson was such a supportive friend and things took a turn with him that made me smile then freak the crap out! (I can't go to in detail with him, I think it would be kind of spoilery.)I also loved the dynamic between Samantha and her brother, they had a chance to re-do their relationship too and I enjoyed seeing them grow close.

DON'T LOOK BACK definitely took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I was happy, sad, frustrated, nervous, wanting to throw all the things, then happy again. I would definitely recommend buying this and planning a day of absolutely nothing so you can read this book, because I promise you won't want to put it down!

  1. I was looking at my Goodreads shelf, I've read 13 books by Jennifer Armentrout. Does she ever take a break? :) I hope not because I've enjoyed reading a lot of them.

  4. I was lucky enough to read Don't Look Back a while back and I completely fell in love with it. It was my first read with a book like this. A mystery, but I had to since Jennifer is a writing machine and I love all her different styles of writing. Thank you so much for the giveaway. I would love to be able to read it again.
