Fan Fun Friday (6)

Every Friday I will have a guest fan make a recommendation of a book that they want to share with you. Any book, any genre. I also like to ask a couple of fun questions. This week my fan guest is Natalie. :)

Hi! I'm Natalie and I'm so glad to be here today, Crystal. Thank you for having me in your blog. ♥ (Which by the way is totally awesome. I am so proud of you!)

So... The series I'm recommending is my favorite ever: the Mara Dyer trilogy. I remember seeing the first book on a blurb post. I saw The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer's haunting cover and I knew I had to read it as soon as it came out so I put the date on my calendar. I got the ebook version... And I totally fell in love with it.

First of all, Mara's character is awesome. She's sarcastic, witty and one of my favorite female characters to this date. She's also an unreliable narrator for reasons I can't tell you because I would spoil the book for you. Her brothers are the best ever, especially her oldest, Daniel. You can see the amazing relationship she has with them.

... And we can't talk about the Mara Dyer trilogy without talking about Noah Shaw. He's British, he's cocky, sarcastic and the love of Mara's life. Noah gets Mara's struggle because he's passing through a very similar thing, even if they're opposites in a way. (If you read it you'll realize what I'm talking about) then he says this quote in the second book and you know he has secured a place in my heart forever: "You're stronger than you believe. Don't let your fear own you. Own yourself." (That's the name of my Tumblr, by the way)

I can only show you the blurb for the first book because with anything, just a single thing I tell you about the plot, I will spoil you something.

(Taken from Goodreads)

Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.

Q: First book you fell in love with?

A: Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban was the first book someone gave to me as a gift. I fell in love with the story and the characters. I've become a lover of books in general thanks to Harry Potter. ♥

Q: All time fave character?

A: I think it's a tie between Luna Lovegood and Magnus Bane.

Q: What Hogwarts house do you belong to?

A: Ravenclaw! ♥ (Pottermore approved) I have always liked that house and everything about it. (especially as my favorite character is from Ravenclaw)

Q: Twilight or VA?

A: Two years ago I would have answered Twilight 4Ever, but now? VA. VA by a long shot! :D The characters are amazing, deep and the relationships feel more relatable.

Q: Fave tv show?

A: Um... It's a tie between Sherlock, Doctor Who and Perception.

Q: Favorite place to buy books?

A: My local bookstore, The Bookmark. I don't have Barnes & Noble stores in PR.

Q: What book have you had the longest? (Physical)

A: The City of the Beasts by Isabel Allende. It was Mom's, but now it's mine :)

Q: What age did you really become a book addict?

A: I have always loved to read, but I think I became a real book addict when I was 12 and read The Chronicles of Narnia. I had already started reading the Harry Potter series but Narnia was the first book series I actually "book binged" (because obviously it was complete at the time)

Thanks SO much for being part of Fan Fun Friday Natalie :)

Make sure to leave Natalie some comment LOVE ♥

  1. Hi, Natalie! Fun interview! I've had the Mara Dyer series on my list for awhile. I borrowed what I thought was book 1 from the library, but it was actually book 2. I was so bummed and then when I went back, book 1 was checked out. Grrr...I'll have to pick this one up soon.
